Results of British Schools National Finals

19-02-2008

At the finals of the British Schools National Championships, held in Birmingham on Sunday 9th March, members of J.T.C. were again triumphant. 23 children all members of Jump Trampoline Club, set off to try to improve on last years 7 National titles.

The day started at 9am with an U11 Team from Grovelands and an individual Natasha Eldridge from Polegate Primary competing in an event that would last 2 hours. At the same time U13 Girls from H.C.C also started their competition with team captain, Jasmin Eldridge, competing as an Individual as well. Jasmin again showed her strength in her last novice competition before she moves on to elite. The U13 team finished 1st and Jasmin tied first on points, although on count back was 2nd by 0.1 of a mark. The U11 team finished 4th by 0.1, Natasha Eldridge also finished 4th. This was a good result for a nine year old competing in an U11 competition.
Next to jump were U15 boys and U15 girls. We had 4 qualified individuals in these sections and two were reigning champions. After two routines Team Captain Stephanie Harvey finished 2nd individual, Nikki Boniface from Willingdon 3rd individual. Boys Captain Sam Killeen regained his title 1st individual in a very close fight and fellow team mate Dean Piggott finished 3rd, there was only 0.4 between the first 3 places. The U15 Boys also regained their national team title while the U15 Girls Team were 2nd.

Last of the day were the U19 girls team from Sussex Downs and Simon Medhurst as an individual from H.C.C. His competition was unfortunately decided in the first round when he failed to complete his compulsory routine but his voluntary was the 3rd highest in his competition. The U19 Girls finished a close 4th again by 0.1.

The total of 8 medals won by 23 children is made even more special when you recognise over 4,000 children from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales started the competition.
